Hand-braided full-grain leather takes hours per piece. Most collars are machine-cut nylon webbing, sewn in seconds. This is the difference between a fast-fashion piece and a leather wallet you keep for ten years.

Measure your dog's neck where the collar will sit. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the collar and the neck. Match to the size chart. If between sizes, choose up — leather softens to fit.

Light rain is fine — wipe it down when you get home and let it air-dry naturally. Avoid full submersion in the ocean, lake, or pool. For dogs who swim daily, this isn't the right collar.

Better suited to adult dogs. Puppies grow fast, chew everything, and don't yet appreciate a leather heirloom. Start with a basic adjustable nylon collar through puppyhood, then move to leather once they've reached their adult size.
